Preparing my part of the AGM documents, I found at we never blogged about our Google Developer Day experience in May last year. So here is the story:

GOOGLE Developer Day - 31st of May 2007 - London, UK

Antonio and me were thrilled to be part of the first Google Developer Day, held on the 31st of May at 10 different locations all around the world. Google organized this day to bring its developer community closer together, share knowledge, and of course, have fun in the process. Of course, we wanted to be there, and we took off for London. Much of our work in the ESN webteam is focused around the Google Maps API, Google gadgets and other Google APIs. We were prepared to have a day full of learning and insights in how to use Google's innovative technology for our ESN Webteam projects.

We've learned about Google Gadgets (cool little applications you can put on your iGoogle homepage, you Google desktop, and on every website), Google Mapplets (mash up your Google Maps applications in one single map shown on maps.google.com) and much other stuff including KML (Google's format for geolocated date, used for example in Google Earth), Google and Open Source Development, etc. One of the new things we learned was that - according to Google - around 80% of all the data available on the internet can be enriched with a location, creating the so-called "geoweb". Apparently we are on the right track!

Of course, immediatly after returning our hands started scratching and we implemented the ESN Galaxy Google Gadget. You can see a demo of this gadget, or customize it to put in your own website! Also, make sure to check out the photos. If you're very attentive you should be able to recognize part of your faithful ESN Webteam.
