The German NP in June took place at Bremen at the northern part of the country. On Fridy, after enjoying a citytour with some Ahoj Powder Shots the participants enjoyed a delicious dinner in a German Brewery Restaurant. This helped then to Party(-move) the night in the Lila Eule ("violet owl")
The next day was then full of plenaries which started after a breakfast that gave everybody enough power to stand the day. In the plenaries the passed and upcoming events were presented and the international projects promoted. The section delegates expressed their appreciation for the Projects of PRIME and the ESN Survey and are looking forward for the next years edition they are willing to take part in and help in launching these projects. Furthermore ESN Potsdam presented a project of receiving ECTS-Credits for the work in ESN, which was of big interest to the sections. Also in the Homepage workshop the participants expressed their opinion to use mostly the CMS Typolight for their homepages in future. After this long day of plenaries everybody enjoyed then a huge barbecue at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology where everybody was searching and finding Nemo in the aquarias. As productive part of the dinner the section of ESN Karlsruhe produced a videoguideline of how to Use the Ahoj-Powder with Wodka. After having regained the power everybody went to an open-air festival with local bands on several stages on the Campus. On the way back home for the first time at a German NP the game of Beer-Puncturing took place and will after this big succes be introduced to the European network at the next international meetings.
Then at the final day was voting and feedback day. The results of the voting were that Katja Krohn from ESN Greifswald and Catherine Diethelm from ESN Hamburg will be the delegates for Germany at the CND Athens and that the NP after next at Bonn (November) will be at Karlsruhe in January.
In the Final feedback round the participants expressed their opinion not only towards the NP but also towards the network itself. The big wish that the German sections had, was that the Network should do more to help in the daily work like giving help, advise and motivation in problematic fields as the recruitement of members, and that future projects and events should be more concentrated on the needs of the sections and the exchange students they are mentoring. So the German national event ESN in the city and the German ESN summer event will hopefully go in the right direction. At the end most of the participants were satisfied with this NP and we are looking forward to the NP in November at Bonn that will be sponsored by our national agency and where we will meet also local mentor organisations that are not part of ESN. Hopefully we convince some of them to join our network.
