Dear WG members
we should make a statement about which kind of sponsors we think are good for ESN International.
This will be presented to the Board and if judged excellent (what it will be ;-), adopted as general understanding regarding future sponsoring.
Here we shouldn't make a list of names but more of characteristics (e.g. "a sponsor of ESN has to have at least 20'000 employees" etc.).
So, give it a thought and make your list of characteristics taking especially into consideration:
- sector the company is engaged in
- ESN values
- services / money provided to ESN
- long / short-term commitment of the company
- anything you judge important
Publish them here on supernova as comments for the others to read until Sunday, 13. July.
I will then take your thoughts into account and write some short phrases.
Take care, thanks for your inputs and have an excellent day.
Matthias

hello everyone,
in my opinion our sponsors, their reputation and general public image has to be of course in correspondence with ESN values. we should look for international/global companies for whose a typical ESN member is a target customer or potential employee who can influence the local market of international students in his/her section.
any company willing to be promoted in our network should offer in return first of all money or secondly services totally free of charge :)
sectors we should focus on: transportation, travel & tourism, telecommunications (mobile providers as well as phone producers), high tech, IT & software companies, banks, financial institutions and pharmaceutical companies, as here lies big money and we are their target customers :)
in my point we should avoid alcohol & energy beverage producers, tobacco companies, security/military orientated companies and companies being a subject of suspicion of not keeping the international, human right and environmental laws.
i believe our wg should be responsible for the sponsorships on the international level and contacting companies being present in majority of esn countries, companies employing our former/current members and alumni, and of course, if a local partnership is set up with international company, we should upgrade this sponsorship on international level as well.
btw, elke and erdeniz are out of office until next week so we should post the deadline of this discussion a bit or maybe set up a session on 24th of july in brussels or gent as many of us will be in belgium :)
have a great week everyone,
katarina
Hi!
I'm very sorry for the delay but hollidays made it very hard to find time to formulate my opinion! Anyway, here it is:
I think it's very important that the sponsors which we have are relevant and compatible with our own vision, and therefor suit us. It should be sponsors which in the outside world are also perceived as 'natural and logical' sponsors and do not make them frown because it would be a strange combination. After all, our ESN name will be connected to their business as well so we should make sure that we agree with their beliefs/policies/attitudes.
About the magnitude of the sponsors I have not an informed opinion, it depends bit on which projects i guess, no?
So, in short, I agree with Katarina and think the importance is to find companies whose vision is compatible with ours.
Greetings!
Elke
