Be active - Be EVS

The European Voluntary Service is a great tool for mobile people to go abroad and work on a
project, having almost all expenses paid.

Every ESN country can participate apart from Switzerland (Personal message from Matthias: sorry guys, it's nothing personal, but the bilateral agreements between the EU and Switzerland don't cover this area).

Here there are two projects ESN International wishes to initiate and looks for your support / help.

Attention: If you apply for one of these projects, you don't need to know the person being volunteer yet. For this you have enough time after application deadline.

EVS in ESN International

Location: Brussels

Time: September 2008 - June 2009

General description:

At the moment, we have Sara of ESN Rome in Brussels, working on various projects. Her mandate finishes in March 2008 and so far it has been a success story.
Hence, we would like to renew this project and welcome another volunteer through EVS next year.
The main objectives will be working on the ESN Survey 2008 and 2009 and the new flagship
project.

What the volunteer will gain:

It is an unique opportunity to live and work in Brussels, gathering insights in ESN as an international NGO involved in shaping the future of exchange students. The main aims are the personal development of the volunteer and the successful conduct of the projects.

What ESN International needs:

The application deadline for an EVS grant is 01. February 2008. For this date, we would need an ESN section willing to send a member to Brussels. By this date the name of the person doesn't need to be clear, yet.

What a section (or NB) needs to do:

So, if your section is interested in participating and support one of your members, ESN and Europe please send a motivation letter to Matthias (vicepresident@esn.org) no later than 20. January 2008.
Also, you need to be a legal established organization in your country (check your country regulations for that). Moreover, you need to be accredited as sending organization at your National Socrates Agency. This process is very easy and is done within minutes. Contact your NSA for application forms.

ESN EVS around Europe

Location: Multiple locations in ESN Cities

Time: September 2008 - March 2009

General description:

This project will make it possible for sections (NB) to send and receive volunteers from our network. The main aims will be conducting research in general situation of exchange students in various Universities / Cities around Europe (application processes, Visa issues, living condition etc.).

What the sending section needs to do:

For application processes see above.
What the sending section will gain: You have the possibility to send one of your members to another section and make her/him an unforgettable time. Moreover, you will play an active role in our network and research about mobility.

What the host section needs to do:

You also need to be a legal established organization and accredited at the National Socrates Agency. Please contact them for application forms.
If the project will be granted, you will need to receive a volunteer from another ESN section. You should provide accommodation and food as well as language training and introduction into local culture. All your costs will be compensated by the project's grant.

What the host section will gain:

You will receive another ESN member who will work not only on an ESN International project but also on your local (or national) projects and activities. Apart from working for international students you have the opportunity to actively work with an international student during your preparation stage and the semester.
In general:
If you wish to be either hosting and/or sending organization please send an e-mail to Matthias (vicepresident@esn.org) no later than the 20. January 2008. In both cases, you will receive more detailed information on what it means being part of EVS.

Also, it is clear that if the number of sending sections doesn't match the number of hosting sections, a selection has to be made.
